Your Vision, Our Guidance, Shared Growth.
We sit down with PBCs, Aboriginal corporations and not-for-profits, listen properly, and turn what matters into governance, funding and strategy that gets delivered. Home is the north — the work takes us right across the country.
We come and listen first
Before scope, before budget. On Country wherever we can get there.
We write in your voice
Drafts go back to the people whose words they are, before they go anywhere else.
We stay for the delivery
Reporting, acquittals, the next round. Not a document and a handshake.
Meet Kerry
Respect, relationships, and turning vision into action.
For too long, regional communities were handed recommendations that looked good on paper but didn't reflect the realities on the ground. I knew it could be done better.
I'm Kerry James, and I started Mulla Mulla Consulting because regional communities deserve advice that's grounded in local knowledge, real conversations and a genuine understanding of the challenges and opportunities in front of them.
I love regional WA. I love the remoteness, the people, the sense that anything is still possible out here. What I want to see is more of that — careers people can build, families raised, businesses run, futures made — right where they are, not somewhere they had to move to.
That's why I work with government, Aboriginal corporations, not-for-profits, industry and business — on governance, grant writing, strategic planning and marketing. Real, lasting change takes all of us pulling in the same direction.
I've worked with communities and organisations right across regional Australia, from the Northern Territory to the South West. Different places, different challenges, different opportunities — but the same belief: the people closest to a problem are usually closest to the solution.
My approach is built on listening, relationships and common sense. The best solutions are often already in the room.
What we do
Guidance that holds up on Country and in the boardroom.
Specialists in PBCs, Aboriginal corporations and not-for-profits. One way of working: understand the context first, then build something that can actually be delivered and funded.
Governance
Board capability for PBCs, Aboriginal corporations and not-for-profits — decision-making and long-term sustainability.
Grant writing
Submissions and business cases that carry your value, not just your price.
Strategic planning
Strategic plans, economic development strategies and sector advice grounded in local context.
Marketing
Brand, communications and campaign support built for community and corporation audiences.
Cultural advisory
Protocols, heritage considerations and impact planning built in from the outset.
Workshop facilitation
Independent facilitation for community forums, planning days and stakeholder workshops.
Where we work
We work right across Australia.
Remote, regional and urban. If the travel makes sense for the work, we'll get there.
How we work
Relationships first. Paperwork second.
We come and listen
On Country where we can. We ask what has already been tried and what went wrong.
We map the ground
Funding landscape, decision-makers, cultural considerations, real timelines.
We write it down together
Drafts go back to the people whose words they are, before they go anywhere else.
We stay for the delivery
Acquittals, reporting, the next round. We don't hand over a document and leave.
